Resting metabolic rate (or RMR) is the total number of calories burned when your body is entirely at rest. RMR supports breathing, blood circulation, functioning of organs, and essential neurological functions. It is directly proportional to lean body mass and decreases approximately 0.01 kcal/min for each 1% increase in body fatness.

There isn't a significant difference between BMR and RMR. The slight difference between your BMR and RMR is that RMR takes the number of calories burnt while eating and digestion into consideration. So your RMR is always slightly higher than BMR.
